The Department of Education, Culture and Employment is hosting over 70 Indigenous language educators in Yellowknife this week for an in-service for their new Our Languages Curriculum. As part of the initiative, the department is excited to share that the Bighetty Bros. Puppeteers will be in town. The Bighetty Bros. Puppeteers consist of four Cree puppeteers from the same family who show special pride and love for their Indigenous language in a joyful and fun way. They use their Cree language and encourage others to use their Indigenous language as well. While they are in Yellowknife to play a part in the Our Languages Curriculum in-service, they are also performing a free family show at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre auditorium on Thursday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. You can learn more about this special event here.
