Please find attached a bilingual press release from the Department of Education about the town hall meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 10, 2019. The meeting, which is being hosted by the department and Yellowknife Education District No. 1 (YK1), will take place in the gymnasium at École J.H. Sissons starting at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the town hall is to present the results of a geotechnical study that was contracted as part of the École J.H. Sissons School Rebuild Project, to share a siting decision with stakeholders and to present a draft accommodation plan for the duration of the construction period (August 2020 to August 2022). This draft plan was designed with students, staff and families in mind so that students are provided with the best opportunity to learn and grow during this exciting project. It will also provide parents with a better understanding of how this project with affect their children directly. YK1 is eager to get this project underway as it will bring a brand new, state-of-the-art learning facility to the community, something that everyone will benefit from for years to come. The district is also committed to providing the same high quality of education that people have come to expect from us during this brief, two-year construction period.
