Je m’appelle Jaime MacKay. I moved to Yellowknife, from Deer Lake Newfoundland, when I was 2 years old and attended four incredible YK1 schools for my grade 1-12 education. My love of French began in my early elementary years which gave me the motivation to join French Immersion in grade 4 and to continue through grade 12.
After graduating from the University of Calgary in 2000, I returned to Yellowknife and accepted the Core French teaching position at N J Macpherson School. The highlight of my 5 years there was having my students speak to me in French when they would see me outside of my classroom!
In 2005 I left teaching as my husband Andrew and I began our next chapter in life as parents! 9 years and 4 children later you can find my family being silly, hiking, camping, singing, dancing and laughing together often. Running a day home throughout my years at home also brought us a lot of giggles and joy!
I am pleased to be back at RLN, for my third year, where I can continue to share my enthusiasm for learning French through role play, discussion, songs, games, and books and more!
